The cat o’ nine tails (a multi-tailed whip used for punishment) was stored in a bag. So the 'cat is out of the bag,' meant someone was getting punished (the secret is out). Recipe of the Week: Family Chicken Sausage Rolls
| |
- 500g chicken mince
- ½ c grated carrot
- ¼ c chopped chives
- 1 c cooked rice
- 50g feta, crumbled
- 1 egg, beaten
- S & P
- 4 sheets puff pastry, thawed, milk for glazing
- 2 t black sesame seeds

Preheat oven 200°C/ 180°C (fan forced) and line 2 baking trays with baking paper. Combine the mince, carrot, chives, rice, feta and egg and mix well. Season with S & P and divide mixture into 4. Lay one sheet of puff pastry onto a flat work surface & arrange chicken filling along one side of the pastry. Roll up to enclose chicken & cut into 3 portions; place onto baking tray & repeat with remaining pastry & filling. Score the top of each sausage roll lightly 4-5 times & brush with milk; sprinkle over black sesame seeds & bake 30 minutes or until pastry is golden & chicken is cooked through.
Serve hot with tomato sauce & green salad
