Auckland’s vibrant waterfront — two iconic names, one enduring story of connection, character, and community.  Swashbucklers was founded by the unforgettable Ginger Gibbs, a man whose energy could light up a room and a harbour in equal measure. As it happens, Ginger and I both went to St Paul’s College — and even back then, he was one of a kind. His legacy lives on in every corner of Swashbucklers, a place that feels like home to locals and visitors alike. The menu? It’s barely changed in nearly three decades — and that’s exactly how it should be. Like The White Lady, Swashbucklers is an institution. It’s where stories are shared, friendships are forged, and traditions are kept alive .I was lucky to join their recent birthday celebration, and it was heartwarming to see some of Ginger’s old schoolmates celebrating their own birthdays.  Proof that some places — and people — never fade from memory. And who could forget Ginger’s legendary Tasman crossing from Sydney Harbour Bridge to Auckland Harbour Bridge? A feat still whispered about in boating circles today. Classic Ginger. Yachtfinders Global and Swashbucklers have weathered the tides of time together.
