Use Semco. The Wood Restorer that treats teak (and all woods) and provides UV Protection

Teak wood with the beauty of its grain, rich colour and timeless durability, is treasured as the best suited wood for use aboard boats, as decking on ships and the material of choice for premium outdoor furniture. However, these uses present the harshest of environments. Over time, the sun and weather will cause surface erosion leading to discoloration, mildew, greying, roughness and checking. The desire to prevent this ravage of the elements without becoming a "teak slave" saw us become the exclusive agency for SEMCO Teak Care Products in New Zealand. An initial 2-coat application of SEMCO TEAK SEALER will provide long lasting natural looking protection for an entire season. The TWO PART CLEANER is the simplest and most thorough way to clean teak. SEMCO is known the world over as the best protection for teak. Available in 5 shades and in various sizes.

Port & Starboard Origination

Confusing these two could cause a ship wreck. In Old England, the 'star board' was the steering paddle or rudder, and ships were always steered from the right side on the back of the vessel. 'Lar board' referred to the left side, the side on which the ship was loaded. So how did larboard become port? Shouted over the noise of the wind and the waves, larboard and starboard sounded too much alike. The word port means the opening in the 'left' side of the ship from which cargo was unloaded. Sailors eventually started using the term to refer to that side of the ship. Use of the term 'port' was officially adopted by the U.S. Navy by General Order, 18 February 1846. So there you have it!

Jigging is a great method to employ in spring and into summer with many benefits over the old school bait and berley approach. Many older kiwi fishos will remember the Grim Reaper and Lethal Lure NZ made jigs that were popular in tackle stores from the 80’s. These basic jigs were pretty simple, often just silver with a single or treble hooks and they worked fine on snapper and other popular fish species.
