Each week we enjoy bringing you up-to-date local and international news, along with the boats that we proudly represent from Absolute, Selene and Hylas and a brokerage line-up that we sell here and around the world.

Hello Sailors!

Soon, you may be holidaying on a boat that has not been used for a while. Boats are funny things. There's no such thing as a five-minute job, they're called 'she' for a reason, they have the capacity to bring you such happy times and can also make it all come unstuck so very, very smartly.

So, if you’ve not been on board for one reason or another in some time, now is a good time to stop and consider all the things you should do before taking off on a holiday jaunt. After all, you'd not go on a road trip without getting the car serviced, topped up with fluids, battery checked, tyres checked and so forth.

Now if you're a 'list kind of person' then along with all the cleaning and preparation jobs you'll want to do, maybe add inspection of seacocks, keel bolts, batteries, and tanks. What's the state of the flares and the grab bag? Do the sails need to go to the sail maker to be repaired? Has the UV light decayed stitching, the clears on the dodger, or rendered the life ring useless?

Does the teak need a birthday with Semco?

Food for thought...see you on the water - safely!

Joke of the Week

Why did the sailor bring a ladder to the bar?

Because he heard the drinks were on the house!

Recipe of the Week:

An easy 'yummy', for Christmas cheer!

Stuf

  • 1 packet of plain Tim Tams
  • 100 gms cream cheese
  • 1 pkt milk chocolate melts
  • 1/4 C white chocolate melts.

Blitz Tim Tams until they become a fine crumb. Add cream cheese, roll into small balls and freeze for approximately 30 minutes. After 30min in freezer, melt the milk-chocolate melts and dip the balls in the melted chocolate (a fork is useful for this) and place on greaseproof paper. Once milk chocolate is set, melt white chocolate, and using a fork drizzle the white chocolate over the top of the truffles.

Make great Christmas gifts!
