One person has been rushed to hospital after they were bitten by a sea lion at Brighton Beach recently. The Otago Daily Times reported the surfer appeared to be in good spirits after they received a bite to the leg. A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John confirmed it responded to reports of a sea lion bite at the beach south of Dunedin and transported one person to Dunedin Hospital in a moderate condition.

Recipe of the Week:
Easy Peasy Chocolate Cake Stu | |
- 50g butter
- 1 T golden syrup
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 t vanilla essence
- 1 c plain flour
- 1 t Baking Powder
- 1 T cocoa
- 1 t baking soda
- 3/4 c milk

This recipe is so easy, no creaming butter and sugar. All ingredients are mixed in 1 pot. Served hot with icecream or cold and iced, it’s delicious!
Preheat oven to 180 C; 1. Grease cake pan & sprinkle pan lightly with flour. 2. Put butter and golden syrup in a large pot. Heat gently til butter melts, don’t boil. 3. Take off heat and whisk in egg and vanilla. 4. Sift in flour ,baking powder and cocoa. 5. Whisk milk and baking soda together and add to pot. 6. Mix well and pour in cake pan. 7. Bake at 180 C for 30 -35 minutes
