| | | | Each week we enjoy bringing you up-to-date local and international news, along with the boats that we proudly represent from Absolute, Selene and Hylas and a brokerage line-up that we sell here and around the world. | | Hello Sailors
Over the years our boat selling record is something we're proud of. Whether new or used, whether selling nationally or internationally we've continued to sell through the good times and the not so good. Finding the correct boat for a buyer is a specialty that we started internationally over 29 years ago, and have continued to make boat buying and selling a pleasurable experience for both the buyer and the seller.
At present the latest real estate statistics say that the average length of time taken for a house to sell in NZ is approximately 4-6 weeks. Some boat sellers are disappointed when the same does not apply to their boat. Interestingly, the latest statistics for the average time for a boat to sell is 11-12 months. Maybe this is because owners generally don't have another boat 'lined up' to purchase while they're selling - it's usually still in the 'idea' stage, and so there's no urgency - unlike selling a house.

Solar power is one of the smartest upgrades you can make to a Selene.
While Selene’s don’t come with factory‑integrated solar, their large pilothouse hardtops are perfect for high‑output aftermarket installations. Owners typically achieve 800–2,000 W, dramatically reducing generator hours and increasing independence at anchor. Choose between rigid, high-efficiency panels for maximum output or sleek, walk-on, flexible panels for a clean, low-profile look. Either way, solar delivers quieter nights, lower fuel use, and more freedom on every voyage.
| | | | The All-New Selene 56 Ocean Explorer | | | |
As always, Howard Chen and the team at Selene Yachts have been busy. Alongside the completion and opening of the new Selene Factory and Dock, work continues on the development of new models—most recently, the Selene 56 Ocean Explorer. The Ocean Explorer range shares the same proven hull design, equipment, and legendary ocean‑going comfort, efficiency, and safety as the Classic Explorer models. The difference lies in a more contemporary exterior and interior style. The 56 Ocean Explorer sits neatly in a recognised sweet spot, mirroring the popularity of the Classic 54 and 60 across Australia and other markets. Needless to say, we’re excited about this latest addition and will keep you updated as more details unfold.
SEMCO – TEAK (& ALL WOOD) PROTECTION AND RESTORATION
| | | | For those wanting to protect not just teak decks on boats but wooden decks at home, and - all different wooden furniture. Whether on furniture or a boat - SEMCO is the simplest & most thorough way to clean teak or other woods. It deep cleans teak without harsh scrubbing to remove greying, food stains, fish blood, fuel stains & teak oils. It is alkaline based and will not damage wood like some acid based cleaners can. Once teak is clean an initial 2-coat application of SEMCO TEAK SEALER will provide long lasting natural looking protection for an entire season. Once applied, your teak will not turn grey or allow the growth of mildew. Surface soil can be washed away with mild detergent, and with seasonal recoating, the teak will be preserved in its natural state for many years.
