For more than 30 years, Yachtfinders Global has helped New Zealanders find the right boat for the way they actually use it.
Founded by Gary Erceg, the business began by sourcing quality boats from the United States and introducing international brands to New Zealand, including Absolute, Beneteau, Lagoon, Azimut and Selene. Over the decades, we've seen the market change dramatically, from a sailing-dominated industry to one where many families choose powerboats to make the most of their time on the water.
What hasn't changed is our approach. We believe in honest advice, recommending the right boat rather than the biggest boat, and focusing on long-term relationships rather than short-term sales.


We've navigated the Asian Financial Crisis, the Global Financial Crisis, Covid, and today's challenging market conditions. Through every cycle, our commitment has remained the same: helping people enjoy some of the best boating and cruising grounds in the world, right here in New Zealand.

A nursing home in the Netherlands allows college students to live rent-free alongside the elderly residents under two conditions: Be a good neighbour and do not be a nuisance to the seniors. The students are required to do a variety of activities with the older residents, including watching sports, celebrating birthdays and offering companionship when seniors fall ill. The program is aimed at warding off the negative effects of aging. Great idea!

These newly discovered sea spiders look like land spiders, but have never left the ocean

Scientists in Canada have discovered two new species of sea spiders living in the shallow waters of the Salish Sea, between Washington State and British Columbia. The tiny marine creatures, found near Vancouver Island and Quadra Island, are the first new specimens identified in the area in more than 100 years.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week is recognised in more than 150 countries worldwide, and the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand has been running it here in Aotearoa since 1993.


With support from Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, the campaign aims to shine a light on positive mental health and encourage people to adopt simple, everyday actions that boost wellbeing.


Every year has a different theme, helping keep the campaign fresh, relevant, and aligned with the latest wellbeing research.

Recipe of the Week:  


Spiced Chicken & Rice


Ingredients:
  • 2 T olive oil 
  • 6 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 T grated fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 t ground coriander
  • 1 t ground cumin
  • 1 t ground turmeric
  • 1 carrot, peeled and grated
  • 1 zucchini, grated
  • 1 C basmati rice, uncooked
  • 1 C raisins
  • 300 ml chicken stock
  • 250 ml coconut milk
  • 1 t salt. 

To Serve: 
  • ⅓ cup slivered almonds, toasted, optional
  • 3 T finely chopped fresh coriander
  • Plain unsweetened yoghurt.

Method:
Heat oven 180ºC regular bake. 
Heat oil in large ovenproof pan over medium heat. 
Season  drumsticks with salt & add to pan. 
Fry until lightly browned all sides. 
Remove from pan. Set aside.

Reduce heat to low. 
Add onion and ginger to pan. 
Fry until softened. 
Add garlic and dried spices. 
Fry briefly. 
Add carrot and zucchini (or spinach) and fry for 5 minutes. 
Add rice, raisins, stock, coconut milk and salt. Combine. Bring to simmer. 
Return chicken to pan. 
Stir chicken through to ensure each piece is well coated in sauce.

Cover and bake for 30 minutes. 
Remove lid. 
Bake for a further 10 minutes.

Top with roasted almonds, coriander, and yoghurt on the side.
